Community Involvement…Current ProjectsCommunity ConnectionsThe Community Connections committee plans and oversees short-term community projects, including, but not limited to “Done In A Day” projects. Projects for the 2007-2008 League year include the National GE Wellness Tour, Race for the Cure Survivor's Reception, Girls Inc. Thanksgiving, and Second Harvest Food Drive to name a few. Kids in the KitchenThe Junior League of Kingsport will be hosting the second annual education initiative on childhood obesity and nutrition, titled Junior Leagues’ Kids in the Kitchen, with more than 200 Leagues from the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI).
Women's FairIn 2008, JLK will host it's third annual Women’s Fair. This project helps to develop the self esteem of low income women and their children and assist them in reaching their potential while promoting awareness and knowledge of agencies and services available to them. During the event, participates receive vital health care information, bone density screenings, and opportunities to register for programs such as children’s literacy initiatives.
Junior League of Kingsport Community Service ScholarshipIn the spring of each year, the Junior League of Kingsport’s Community Service Scholarship Award program provides a $1000 scholarship to a young woman who meets the following criteria:

Junior League of Kingsport Grants ProgramThe Junior League of Kingsport (JLK) grant program is designed to meet an immediate, specific need within the community. It also allows JLK to extend its service to the community by supporting other non-profit agencies with similar focus areas. Grant requests that serve a need within the following focus areas will be given consideration: (1) developing the potential of women and (2) promoting educational opportunities for children and youth.
