Fundraiser

The Junior League of Kingsport is joining with other community organizations to support the local 278th TN National Guard scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan in a few weeks.

On December 5, soldiers in the 278th will leave for a few weeks of training before deployment.  JLK will host a breakfast for the soldiers and their families on that day -- we'll feed about 300 people.

In addition to the breakfast, a fundraiser to "Bring Our Soldiers Home for Christmas."  The military will allow them to return home for a few days for Christmas with their families but is not providing transportation for the trip here and back.  Some soldiers cannot afford the round trip cost, so funds are being raised locally to "Bring Our Soldiers Home for Christmas."  Buses have been chartered, and the cost is approximately $130 per soldier.  About $9,000 needs to be raised to bring all soldiers home.

So, a fundraiser has been planned at the Kingsport Stone Drive Chick-Fil-A on Thursday, November 19th from 4 pm 'til 9 pm.   All you have to do is take the coupon (link above to print) with and go to Chick-Fil-A to eat!

If you are not able to attend the fundraiser and wish to contribute to the fund to bring soldiers home for Christmas, donations may be made by checks payable to "JLK.".  You may mail donations to Junior League of Kingsport at 418 Shelby Street, Kingsport TN 37660.

The Junior League of Kingsport is made up of over 350 women dedicated to building a better community.  Our membership consists of a wide range of backgrounds, interests, and skills. The common thread for these women is the Junior League mission to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women, and improve our community.
